Two of the Melbourne Stars batters, Joe Clarke and Beau Webster, were awarded six runs despite their shots hitting the roof of the stadium.
The match was being held at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne and the arena's retractable roof was closed.
While the first incident occurred in the third over of Stars’ innings, the second one took place in the 16th over. On both occasions, the ball hit the closed roof and then came down, leading to the umpire signalling six.
It is worth mentioning here that after Melbourne Renegades' current captain Aaron Finch hit the roof back in the second season of the BBL, it was decided that the batter would be awarded a six in such cases instead of the delivery being declared a dead ball.
However, fans were not too pleased with the situation and slammed the ridiculous rule.
