Rehan Ahmed contributed a lot to England’s historic victory in the third and final Test match against Pakistan in Karachi as he picked up 5/48 in the second innings and created a milestone himself.

Rehan at 18 years and 128 days, became the youngest debutant in Test history to pick up a five-wicket haul. He broke the record of Australian Pat Cummins who was 18 years and 193 days who took a fifer against South Africa on his Test debut in 2011.

Rehan’s father, Naeem Ahmed, who was present at the National Stadium in Karachi, burst into tears of joy while his son achieved the milestone on his Test debut. Rehan showed his father the ball after completing his fifer and his father responded in elation as well.

It was probably the best day of my life again. To get a five-for on debut is a dream come true. I have bowled better balls and not got wickets. To get Babar Azam out is a dream come true. He is a very good player.

I liked the Rizwan wicket because I have been working hard on my leg-spin for the last two months with bowling coach Jeetan Patel. To get one to spin a little bit was great,” Rehan Ahmed told BBC.

Pakistan will next face New Zealand in a three-Test series at home, while England will next tour South Africa for three ODIs.
