Kishan instead signed his name below Dhoni's autograph to oblige the fan.
Kishan became the fourth ODI double-centurion Indian – after Rohit Sharma, Virender Sehwag, and Sachin Tendulkar – and the seventh batsman overall to achieve the feat, along with Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill, and Fakhar Zaman.
His double ton came off just 126 balls, shattering the previous record held by Chris Gayle, who had taken 138 balls against Zimbabwe in the 2015 World Cup. And at 24 years old, he broke Rohit Sharma’s record of being the youngest to score a double ton, who was 26 when he scored his first 200 against Australia in 2013.
He is currently playing in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022-23 for his state Jharkhand and scored a century in their last match as well.
Everyone knows the kind of influence another Jharkhand native has had on Kishan, that being former India captain MS Dhoni. And now Kishan’s tremendous respect towards the legendary Indian cricketer was seen in a viral video when a fan asked him to autograph his photo cover.
A fan requested Ishan to sign on his mobile cover, on which the fan already had the signature of MS Dhoni. Ishan politely refused to sign above MS Dhoni’s signature.
“Mahi bhai ka hai signature aur uske upar bol rahe hain mera karne…mereko thoda ho nahi raha hai (This is Mahi bhai’s signature and you are telling me to sign above it. I can’t do this.) Mahi bhai ka signature hai upar, abhi humlog utna pahunche nahi hai wahan par…neeche karta hun “I have not reached the level of MS Dhoni, I will sign in the bottom),” Kishan told the fan.
He then signed below Dhoni’s autograph and gave the phone back to the fan.
