Pakistan lost the second Test by 28 runs giving England lead of 2-0 in 3-Test series.
England, who lead the series 1-0 with the win in Rawalpindi Test, batted first thanks to Ben Stokes winning the toss. After Ben Duckett’s 63 and Ollie Pope’s 60 and valuable contributions from others, the visitors posted 281 in their first do. Debutant Abrar Ahmed picked 7/114 in his first outing for Pakistan.
Pakistan replied with 202 despite captain Babar’s 75 and Saud Shakeel’s 63 runs as Jack Leach picked 4/98.
Duckett continued his good form and scored 79, while Harry Brook scored his second ton in consecutive matches as England made 275 runs and set 355 runs for Pakistan to win the Test and level the series.
However, Ollie Robinson and James Anderson made that task difficult as Abdullah Shafique fell for 45 and Mohammad Rizwan made 30 after openers added 66 runs. But the big blow came when Robinson clean bowled Babar Azam, who shouldered arms to an inswinger, which rattled his off-stump and the skipper walked back for 1 run.
Babar was mercilessly trolled by Pakistani fans after the ace cricketer perished and walked back to the pavilion and the crowd castigated the national team captain with 'Zimbabar' chants at the stadium.
