Jadeja was retained by the four-time winners ending months of speculation.
The suspense over Ravindra Jadeja's future with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finally ended on Tuesday (November 15) as the franchise announced his name in the list of retained players for the forthcoming IPL 2023 season.
Jadeja, who has been a key member of the team, was retained at a price of ₹16 crore by CSK and later named captain for the 2022 season, but decided to quit the captaincy mid-way after a disastrous start for himself and the team.
It was also speculated that he was asked by MS Dhoni to concentrate on his own cricket and not worry about the captaincy duties, as the former India captain took back the reigns of the franchise and Jadeja played few games as a member of the team before being ruled out with an injury.
There were rumours about Jadeja not being pleased at what transpired during the season and was seeking a release from CSK or a transfer to some other franchise. He also deleted all previous social media posts about the franchise from his official handles and reportedly unfollowed them too.

CSK remained tight-lipped about his future with them but if reports are to be believed, MS Dhoni stepped in and insisted on Jadeja's retention despite trading offers from other franchises. At the end of it all, Jadeja remains with CSK for the IPL 2023 season, and one would hope the fresh start will do him good as well as his franchise.
Soon after the retention announced on Tuesday, Jadeja took to his official handles to convey the message that 'everything is fine' and he's ready for a 'restart' with the four-time champion team.
