AUS v ZIM 2022: Cricket fraternity reacts as Zimbabwe pull off a big upset by defeating Australia in third ODI

Zimbabwe bowled out Australia for a paltry 141 in the third ODI.

In what is being touted as one of the biggest upsets in the history of 50-over cricket, Zimbabwe defeated Australia by three wickets on Saturday (September 3) in the third ODI at Tony Ireland Stadium, Townsville.

The Aaron Finch-led Australian side came into the final ODI with an unassailable 2-0 lead and were expected to win this match as well. However, the visitors shocked everyone with their performance.

Opting to bowl first, Zimbabwe bundled out Australia for a paltry 141 in 31 overs on the back of leg-spinner Ryan Burl’s five-wicket haul (5-10 in three overs). The remaining five wickets were shared by Brad Evans (2-35), Victor Nyauchi (1-15), Richard Ngarava (1-27) and Sean Williams (1-36).

Chasing the target, the tourists struggled at different junctures but eventually got over the finishing line with 11 overs to spare. Skipper Regis Chakabva was the top scorer with 37 not out while opener Tadiwanashe Marumani made a notable contribution of 35.
