The Indian cricket fans criticized the BCCI and Sourav Ganguly for allowing former South Africa batter Herschelle Gibbs to play in the Legends League Cricket’s second season which will be played in September in India.

A special match between India Legends XI led by Sourav Ganguly and World Legends XI led by Eoin Morgan will be played in Eden Gardens in Kolkata on September 16 to celebrate India’s 75 years of independence.

While fans are eager to see all their favorite former cricketers back in action, they are more excited to see the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly-led Indian team back in action.

However, fans were not happy with Gibbs being included in the World Legends XI, given that he had featured in a T20 league held in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), ignoring the BCCI and the Government of India’s strong objection. The Proteas star, while playing in the PoK league had said, not to mix politics and cricket together.

His inclusion in the World Legends XI brought much criticism and fans were not happy with the BCCI for allowing this.

The criticism and unhappiness bore fruit as Gibbs has been replaced in the Legends team with Australia all-rounder Shane Watson.

This decision by the Indian board was hailed by the fans on social media and they lauded it on Twitter.
