August 15, 2022 marks the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence Day.
However, De Villiers' social media post caught everyone’s attention. Rather than writing about India’s 75 years of Independence, he wrote 76th Independence day.
“Happy 76th #Independence day India! I feel loved every time I play in India, no matter which team I play for Congratulations on #75NotOut from all of us!” AB tweeted.
After the netizens pointed out the mistake in his tweet, De Villiers acknowledged the error and wrote: “It was all part of my plan! Glad I have everyone’s attention now.”
“It was a tricky wicket, but I started well, I then got to the nervous 90’s and started doubting myself, and then followed through with a six over extra to raise my bat,” he further quipped.
In the end, AB de Villiers highlighted the main event for which he made a series of tweets.
“Anyway, let’s focus on what’s important here, celebrating India have a good day everyone,” he stated.
Coming to India’s Independence Day, the celebration is a lot different this year as it has been dubbed “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
From common people to well-known celebrities, the Indians are showing patriotism in their unique way. While many of them are hoisting the national flag at houses and playing patriotic songs in localities, there is a lot showing their love for the country by changing the display picture on social media to tricolor.
Indian cricket legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly among others have also put the Indian flag as their Twitter DP.
