Neeraj won the silver in javelin throw with a distance of 88.13 meters.
This was India's first medal at the ongoing edition. Chopra became only the second Indian to win a medal at the event by grabbing a silver in the javelin throw with a distance of 88.13m. He was also only the second athlete to win a medal at the event, after Anju Bobby George in 2003.
The Olympic javelin throw champion, Chopra is also the first Asian male javelin thrower to win a gold at the event and now became the first man from Asia to win a World Championship medal in the javelin throw.

Former India captain Virat Kohli joined the celebrations and congratulated Chopra for his incredible feat. “Congratulations @Neeraj_chopra1 on winning the silver at the World Athletics Championships. We are proud of you,” the cricketer tweeted.
Apart from Kohli, batting legend Sachin Tendulkar also praised Neeraj Chopra on his medal win and tweeted, ".@Neeraj_chopra1 has added another laurel to his name! India is very proud of you! Heartiest congratulations on winning the silver medal in the men's javelin throw at World Athletics Championships."
Neeraj will be in action at the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.
