India all-rounder Deepak Chahar on Tuesday (July 19) posted a video of himself bowling in a club match after finishing the rehabilitation program at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He wants to return to international cricket soon, having been out of action for over three months due to injury concerns.

Chahar suffered a hamstring injury while playing in the home series against West Indies in February this year.

Despite his injury, Chahar was picked by Chennai Super Kings for a hefty sum of 14 crores at the IPL 2022 mega-auction and was expected to play towards the end of the tournament. However, he suffered a back injury during the recovery period, which ruled him out completely from the competition.

Taking to Instagram, he shared a video of his bowling with the caption: "Bowled in a match after 5 months, felt equally happy when I made my debut", indicating how significant it is to him that his body is feeling well again after spending a significant amount of time on the sidelines.

Last month, Chahar revealed his comeback plans in an interview with PTI.

"I am bowling four to five overs at one go as per my rehab programme right now," Chahar had said. "My recovery is going pretty well and I think it will take another four to five weeks for me to get match fit."

"It's a step-by-step process as far as recovery is concerned. Once I am match fit, I will need to play some club-level games to check my fitness."

The 29-year-old returning to cricket couldn’t have come at a better time with the T20 World Cup down under just a few months away.
