Kieron Pollard holds the record for playing most ODIs and T20Is without ever playing a Test match.
The 34-year-old is currently playing for the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL 2022.
The burly Trinidadian had made his West Indies debut in 2007 and played 123 ODIs and 101 T20I matches. He made 2706 runs in ODIs with 3 centuries and 13 half-centuries to his name with the highest score of 119. He also took 55 wickets in 50-overs cricket.
In the T20Is, Pollard excelled a lot, scoring 1569 runs with a best of 75* and 6 fifties to his name. He is one of the few cricketers to hit 6 sixes in an over in T20I cricket. He has 42 wickets as well.
The announcement to retire from international cricket brought down curtains on his 15-year career for the West Indies.
IPL 2022: “I want to get Virat Kohli out”- says Umran Malik ahead of SRH-RCB match
"After careful deliberation, I've today decided to retire from international cricket. As is the case of many young persons, it was a dream of mine to represent the West Indies team from the time I was a boy of 10 years and I'm proud to have represented West Indies cricket for over 15 years in both the T20I and ODI forms of the game,” said Pollard in a message posted on his Instagram profile.
As he leaves the game as one of the most prolific six-hitters in this generation, being one of the three batters in international to have hit six sixes in six consecutive balls in an over; the cricket fraternity bid farewell to the talent and genius of Kieron Pollard.
