New Zealand great Ross Taylor got emotional as he bid adieu to international cricket with the third and final ODI between the BlackCaps and Netherlands at Seddon Park, Hamilton on Monday (April 4).

In December last year, Taylor had announced that he will retire from international cricket after this home summer. While the right-hander played his last Test against Bangladesh in January, the ODI series against Netherlands is his last outing in the international arena.

The 38-year-old couldn’t hold his tears during national anthem ahead of the start of the match and then later, as he walked out to bat, Netherlands players gave him a guard of honour.

Taylor scored 14 off 16 balls in his last appearance for New Zealand before getting out playing a slog sweep. His brief knock was laced with a six.

This was Ross Taylor’s 450th match for New Zealand and he stood up during the national anthem alongside his three children - Mackenzie, Jonty and Adelaide. His wife Victoria and extended family members were also in attendance at the venue.

Overall, Ross Taylor represented New Zealand in 112 Tests, 236 ODIs and 102 T20I, amassing a total of 18,195 runs with 40 centuries.
