Bravo surpassed Malinga's tally of 170 wickets to achieve the feat.
Former Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Lasith Malinga on Thursday (31st March) congratulated Dwayne Bravo for becoming the highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Dwayne Bravo etched his name into the record books after he surpassed Lasith Malinga’s tally of 170 wickets in the IPL. The all-rounder achieved the feat in the game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Mumbai.
Bravo in CSK’s last match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) equalled Malinga’s record and with the wicket of Deepak Hooda against LSG, he became the leading wicket-taker in the league with 171 wickets to his name.

As Bravo reached that landmark, Malinga, who’s currently working as bowling coach of RR, praised him. Taking to his official Twitter account, the former Sri Lanka pacer called CSK all-rounder a ‘Champion’ and wished him many more wickets.
“Bravo is a CHAMPION. Congratulations on becoming the highest wicket-taker in IPL history mate @DJBravo47. More to go young man! #IPL2022,” Lasith Malinga tweeted.
Malinga had taken 170 wickets in just 122 matches with an average of 19.79. Whereas Bravo has picked 171 wickets in 153 matches at an average of 24.07.
Apart from this Bravo is also the leading wicket-taker in T20 cricket. In 524 matches, he has taken 575 wickets at an average of 24.08.
