Dwayne Bravo has been part of CSK since long and played under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni was thanked by all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who said the skipper's legacy will live on forever. Wishes have been flooding in for Dhoni, who handed over the baton to Ravindra Jadeja on Thursday (March 24), capping off a successful captaincy tenure.
Dwayne Bravo has been a key member of CSK for many years and is MS Dhoni's trusted lieutenant. At the mega auction, the four-time champions purchased back the West Indies all-rounder for INR 4.4 crore, demonstrating Dhoni's and CSK's faith in the 38-year-old.
Bravo's message to Dhoni reflected his admiration for the Indian captain, whom he praises for sticking by him even when things became tough.
The renowned T20 player also wished Ravindra Jadeja all the luck in continuing Dhoni's legacy and assisting CSK in their successful run.
"Thank You for everything @mahi7781 your legacy will live on forever!! #Brother," Bravo wrote. "Chennai Super Kings couldn’t ask for a better person to take over @ravindra.jadeja congratulations! it’s your time Sir!" he added.
CSK batter Robin Uthappa also lauded Dhoni and said that Jadeja has enormous shoes to fill as skipper and supported him to do a good job.
"You have always led by example, captain @msdhoni Thank you for the incredible memories on and off the field. Big shoes to fill in @imjadeja. I'm sure you'll be fantastic in this new role. Congratulations," Uthappa wrote.
Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings CEO, Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that Dhoni will continue to play for the franchise this season and beyond.
Despite the fact that the inspirational skipper continued to play in the IPL after announcing his international retirement in his trademark style, his choice to pass over the CSK leadership to Jadeja was not wholly unexpected.
Dhoni saw that he couldn't carry on indefinitely, and the 33-year-old Jadeja, who is at the pinnacle of his abilities, is ready to take over. Prior to the auction, the southpaw was CSK's top retainer, ahead of Dhoni, Moeen Ali, and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
