India U19 captain Yash Dhull scored a hundred in the semi-final match against Australia.
India defeated Australia by 96 runs and secured their place in the U19 World Cup 2022 final. India will now face England in the final who earlier defeated Afghanistan in the other semi-final.
Captain Yash Dhull smashed 110 runs in the semi-final match while piling up a 204-run stand with Shaik Rasheed, who registered 94 runs off 108 deliveries. India eventually scored 290/5 in their 50 overs, and later defended the target easily by bowling out the Aussies on 194 runs.
India's senior cricketer R Ashwin praised Dhull for his crucial knock in the semi-final match. He posted a tweet and wrote that it's just the start of a wonderful journey for the 19-year-old.
"The captain Yash Dhull brings up his first hundred and I am sure it’s just the start of a wonderful journey. #INDvAUS #Under19WorldCup2022," he tweeted.
A fan commented that he's hoping Dhull's career doesn't see a downfall like Unmukt Chand, India's 2012 U19 World Cup-winning captain. To which, Ashwin told him to be optimistic. "Let’s promote optimism," he replied.
India U19 have entered their fourth consecutive World Cup final. In 2020, they had faced Bangladesh in the final and they were defeated by 3 wickets.
