Australia's Marnus Labuschagne lauds Virat Kohli as “Great player and great leader”

Virat Kohli resigned as captain of Indian Test team on January 15.

Indian cricket fans from all over the world were disappointed when Virat Kohli resigned as the Indian Test team captain on Saturday, January 15. This shocking decision came after Team India’s Test series loss against South Africa.

Kohli had given up the T20I captaincy last year while was replaced as ODI captain by rohit Sharma as per BCCI selectional panel decision shortly after.

Marnus Labuschagne thanked the England cricket team who made the 2021-22 Ashes possible despite severe COVID regulations down under. A fan replied to this tweet asking the Australian batter about his views on Virat Kohli.

Replying to his question Marnus wrote, “Great player & great leader. Can’t argue with his numbers either.”

Virat Kohli led Indian cricket to new heights during his tenure and the team also recorded a memorable maiden Test series win in Australia. Kohli is the fourth most successful Test captain in the history of Test cricket and the most successful Indian Test captain ever.

Team India has recorded 40 wins in 68 Tests under the captainship of Virat Kohli. Kohli was appointed the Test captain back in 2014 when MS Dhoni stepped down in the middle of the Border-Gavaskar Test series against Australia.
