MS Dhoni had quit Test cricket in middle of the Test series on Australia tour.
South Africa's wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock surprised fans with his sudden Test retirement on Thursday (December 30). His announcement came after India defeated South Africa by 113 runs in the first Test of the three-match series in Centurion.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) released a statement by De Kock on his retirement announcement. He said it was a tough decision to make but the wicketkeeper-batter wants to prioritize his family.

"This is not a decision that I have come to very easily. I have taken a lot of time to think about what my future looks like and what needs to take priority in my life now that Sasha and I are about to welcome our first child into this world and look to grow our family beyond that. My family is everything to me and I want to have the time and space to be able to be with them during this new and exciting chapter of our lives," De Kock stated.
The retirement of De Kock reminded fans of former India captain MS Dhoni, who had announced a surprising Test retirement on the same day in 2014. India had drawn the Test match at Melbourne Cricket Ground against Australia after which Dhoni choose to retire from Test Cricket to concentrate on limited-overs cricket.
Twitterati reacted to De Kock's retirement and some of the fans went on to compare it with Dhoni's decision to quit the longest format. Here are tweets:
