Today on November 19, 2021, followers of Sikhism all across the world are celebrating the holy occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, also called Gurpurab, which celebrates the birth of the first guru of Sikhs, Guru Nanak.

Gurpurab is celebrated on the birthdays of the ten gurus of Sikhism, who were responsible for shaping the beliefs of the Sikhs. The founder of Sikhism was Guru Nanak and he was born on April 15, 1469, in Rai-Bhoi-di Talwandi in the present Shekhupura District of Pakistan, now Nankana Sahib.

The Sikhs have been celebrating Guru Nanak Jayanti around November, as it is claimed that Guru Nanak was born on the Full Moon of the Indian Lunar Month Kartik. The day is a gazetted holiday in India.

The Indian cricket fraternity took to Twitter and wished their followers and everyone else on the occasion of Guru Nanak Gurpurab.
