Badminton star Sindhu became the first Indian woman athlete to win 2 consecutive Olympic medals.
Sindhu also became only the second Indian after Sushil Kumar to win 2 individual Olympic medals. She is the first woman athlete from the country to do so. Sindhu is also only the 4th women's singles player to win back-to-back medals at the Olympic Games.

After a disappointing loss to World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying in the women's singles semi-final, Sindhu was at her best, playing her natural style of aggressive badminton to outclass He Bing Jiao 21-13, 21-15 in straight games to ensure a podium finish.
Apart from this Olympic medal win, Sindhu has also done amazingly well in World Championships, winning Bronze in 2013 and 2014, Silver in 2017 and 2018, and finally the Gold in 2019. She also has a Commonwealth Games silver in 2018 and an Asian Games silver, also in 2018.
From Sachin Tendulkar to Virender Sehwag to the BCCI, the cricket fraternity extended its good wishes to Sindhu for bringing laurels to the nation.
