Former South African players AB de Villiers and fast bowler Dale Steyn reacted to the shocking umpiring decision during the 5th T20I between the West Indies and South Africa, which was played in Grenada and resulted in South Africa not only winning the match, but also the series.

A delivery by Obed McCoy to Wiaan Mulder during SA innings was not ruled a wide ball, despite it being down the leg side and even over the batsman’s head. It happened when South Africa's score read 160-4 and Mulder was on strike against Obed McCoy on the last ball of the 19th over.

McCoy bowled a short ball with the line outside leg stump even as Mulder tried to get some bat on it. While Mulder may have expected that to be called a wide, the umpire didn't think so. The batsman was visibly distraught at the decision from both umpires.

This led to Dale Steyn saying “How on Earth is that not a wide?” on Twitter and AB de Villiers calling it a shocker.

Meanwhile, the South African team registered a 25-run victory in the fifth and final T20I. The win helped them clinch the series 3-2 as well. They batted first and scored 168 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs, with Quinton de Kock making 60 and Aiden Markram making 70.

In reply, West Indies could only manage 143 for 9 in 20 overs. Evin Lewis made a gritty half-century while Shimron Hetmyer contributed 33 runs. Lungi Ngidi claimed three wickets while Kagiso Rabada took two.

Markram was picked as the Man of the Match while spinner Tabraiz Shamsi was chosen as the Man of the Series.
