Kohli and Anushka had appealed everyone to come forward and donate in the fight against COVID-19.
Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli are grateful for the support shown by people after they came together to raise funds for COVID 19 relief.
The couple had appealed to everyone to step up and donate for those in need. They donated rupees 2 crores and set a target of a total 7 crore on the crowdfunding platform, Ketto.
On Saturday (May 8), a day after urging their fans to contribute, Kohli and Anushka shared an update on their Twitter account. They have raised rupees 3.6 crores in less than 24 hours.

"3.6 crores in less than 24 hours! Overwhelmed with the response. Let’s keep fighting to meet our target and help the country. Thank you," wrote Kohli on Twitter.
Anushka said they should keep going after successfully crossing the halfway mark. "Grateful to everyone who has donated so far. Thank you for your contribution. We have crossed the half way mark, let’s keep going," her tweet read.
The actress had already told fans she and Kohli would be coming together to help needy people in COVID-19 on her birthday (May 1). In her video, Anushka said, "Hi guys, I hope you all are safe. I just want to say a 'Big Thank You' for all the lovely birthday wishes. It truly made my day special. But in the midst of all this pain and suffering, it just did not feel right to celebrate my birthday.
"But I have seen your special messages to me and now I have an important message for you. I would like to appeal to everyone, to unite and support our country in this hour of crisis."
