The cricket world has been deprived of the fierce rivalry between India and Pakistan because of political tension between the two countries. They have not played a bilateral series with each other after 2012-13 when Pakistan had toured India for limited-over series.

Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen saw the light of hope after India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tweet to Pakistan's Prime Minister and ex-cricketer Imran Khan.

Khan was tested positive for COVID-19 and Modi took to Twitter to wish him a speedy recovery. “Best wishes to Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI for a speedy recovery from COVID-19,” PM Modi tweeted.

Pietersen reacted to the tweet and said the post by India's PM made him smile. He called it a dream to see a healthy relationship between Pakistan and India, on and off the field.

“This tweet by @narendramodi to @ImranKhanPTI made me smile! It would be a dream come true, to see India & Pak reunited and engaging both on & off the field! We all need each other & this year has shown us that!”, Pietersen tweeted.

“Let’s all hope a healthy friendship is on its way!”
