BCCI wishes Ashoke Dinda after his announcement to retire from all cricket

Ashoke Dinda retired as Bengal's second highest wicket-taker with 420 FC scalps.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wished Ashoke Dinda on his retirement after the pacer called time on his career on February 2, 2021.

Ashoke Dinda, former India, Bengal, and Goa player, on Tuesday, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Having made his FC debut for Bengal in 2005 he picked 420 wickets in 116 FC matches, 151 wickets in 98 List-A games, and 151 wickets in 147 T20 matches.

The pacer also represented India in 13 ODIs and nine T20Is, picking 12 and 17 wickets respectively.

Addressing his retirement Ashoke Dinda thanked BCCI and senior players like Deep Dasgupta and Rohan Gavaskar for supporting him. 

"Playing for India is everybody's aim, I played for Bengal that's why I got the chance to represent India. I thank the BCCI for giving me an opportunity to play for India. Senior players like Deep Dasgupta, Rohan Gavaskar guided me when I played for Bengal. I got the support every time I picked a wicket,” Ashoke Dinda said in a press conference.

Following his retirement, the Board of Cricket for Control in India wished Dinda luck for all the future endeavors.

"As @dindaashoke retires from all forms of cricket, we wish him all the best for the future," BCCI tweeted.

 

Dinda, who made his ODI debut in May 2010, thanked the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and said that the former India captain always supported him.

"I would like to say special thanks to Sourav Ganguly, I remember in 2005-06, Sourav Ganguly picked me in the 16-member team, I debuted against Maharashtra. I am forever in the debt to Dada, he always supported me. I have decided to call time on my career here in Bengal," he said.
