Pakistani batsman Fawad Alam is on a roll and in his first Test match at home after making his debut more than 10 years ago, rescued his team from a precarious position.

Pakistan resumed their innings on day 2 of the first Test against South Africa in Karachi from 33/4. Azhar Ali was the first wicket to fall as he succumbed to Keshav Maharaj for 51, ending 96-run stand with Alam.

But Alam soldiered on scoring his 3rd Test fifty in 137 balls. Mohammad Rizwan made 33, while Faheem Ashraf kept Alam company with a brilliant knock of 64 runs.

Meanwhile, Alam continued to pile on runs, looking comfortable against both pace and spin of Proteas attack. He reached his 3rd Test century in 220 balls, becoming the first Pakistan batsman to convert his first three half-centuries into centuries.

He ultimately fell to Ngidi, caught by Bavuma for 109 with 9 fours and 2 sixes. Pakistan ended day 2 on 308/8 with a lead of 88 runs.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for the effort of Alam, which has brought Pakistan back in the game and given them the advantage. They lauded him on Twitter and here are some of the best tweets:
