Team India’s 2-1 series victory under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane against Australia down under was one of the greatest comebacks to be recorded in history.
Despite batting debacle at Adelaide and with a flurry of injuries to their first-choice cricketers, the Indian team put together three stellar performances to record one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the game.
Team India led by Ajinkya Rahane, despite being battered and bruised, showed great application and played fearless cricket to register historic victories at Melbourne (MCG) and at Gabba, Brisbane. The team also registered a famous draw at Sydney (SCG).

IND v ENG 2021: Planning for series to take place during one-week quarantine, reveals Bharat Arun
“Absolutely, I would like to sum it up this way. This Indian team is absolutely fearless and brutally honest. These are the qualities that are necessary for a team to do well. And there are two men who have gone and brought about this change. It is Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli,” Bharat Arun told Sports Today.
However ever since Ajinkya Rahane led Team India to a historic series win in Australia, cricket fans as well as few pundits, want Rahane to take over Test captaincy from Virat Kohli.
Bharat Arun while praising Ajinkya Rahane and his leadership, reminded one and all that Virat Kohli’s efforts and success since 2014 cannot be overlooked.
“First thing, I would like to congratulate Ajinkya Rahane for the magnificent job he did in Australia. But to the people who are writing against Virat Kohli, I would just like to put up one stat for them. Out of the 20 series that he has captained, he has won 14 series for India. Which means the percentage of win record is over 70%.” he said.
Bharat Arun, 58, further reflected on Virat Kohli’s record as captain and said that Kohli’s record as a captain is 2nd across all sports.
“If you look at captains across all formats, Virat Kohli’s record has to be one of the best ever. All Blacks (New Zealand Rugby team) has about an 80 percent success rate, so after them, Virat Kohli’s record is 2nd across all sports.
People who tend to write about him have forgotten what he has done over the years. What has Virat not done, the fitness culture he has brought into the team. Fast bowlers, fielding have all gone up under him,” said Bharat Arun.
Arun further called Rahane an outstanding team man who has and continues to work with regular skipper Virat Kohli.
“Yes, Rahane has done a magnificent job, he’s an outstanding team man. When he is Virat Kohli also, he does a pretty good job as vice-captain, he goes and suggests things to Virat and Virat is also very open to suggestions,” he concluded.
