England cricket team’s fan Rob Lewis was in for a surprise after the visitors completed a 7-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Galle. Rob, who came to Sri Lanka in March 2020 to witness the 2-match Test series, got stuck on the Island due to the COVID-19 pandemic and stayed on for 10 months.

Although no spectators were allowed for the opening Test, Lewis was ordered off the historic ramparts of Galle Fort on Day 1. He was allowed to watch the match after Sri Lanka Cricket Board granted special permission on Day 2.

He got special acknowledgment from England captain Joe Root after he completed his double-hundred as well. Later when the visitors completed a brilliant win on day 5, Joe Root decided to call Rob Lewis and thank him for the support he has shown, despite facing a lot of adversities.
