Indian cricketers condole the demise of former President, Pranab Mukherjee

Pranab Mukherjee breathed his last on Monday.

Pranab Mukherjee, who served as India's 13th President from 2012 to 2017, passed away at the age of 84 on Monday (August 31) following a three-week battle with multiple ailments. He is survived by two sons and a daughter.

The veteran Congress leader had tested positive for COVID-19 at the time of his admission and was treated for a lung infection. Mukherjee had recently undergone a brain surgery at the Army's Research and Referral Hospital in New Delhi. Doctors said he suffered a cardiac arrest at 4:30 PM.

The much-respected former President was awarded India's highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna in 2019 by the current President of India, Ram Nath Kovind.

India's former and current cricketers expressed deep sadness after Mukherjee's death and took to Twitter to pay their tributes.
