Regarded as one of India's greatest cricketers, MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on Saturday (August 15).

Ever since the wicketkeeper-batsman disclosed his decision through a social media post, he is receiving heaps of praise for his awe-inspiring achievements.

Former and current cricketers from all over the world including Sachin Tendulkar, Wasim Akram Michael Vaughan, Shoaib Akhtar, Shane Warne, Nasser Hussain among others took to their social media accounts to give a fitting tribute to Dhoni and his illustrious 16 years of service to the sport.

Amid a number of accolades, there was also a tribute tweet from Pakistan’s white-ball captain Babar Azam.

Taking to Twitter, Babar wrote: “Congrats on such a remarkable career @msdhoni. Your leadership, fighting spirit and legacy will always be remembered in the cricket world. I wish you enough light and shine in every aspect of your life. #MSDhoni”

Dhoni’s contribution to Indian cricket is surreal, to say the least. The Men in Blue tasted huge success under his leadership, winning the 2007 World T20, 2011 Cricket World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. He also led the team to pinnacle in Test cricket.

As a batsman, Dhoni transformed himself into one of the greatest finishers of the game. He represented the country in 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 98 T20Is, aggregating more than 17000 international runs including 16 centuries.

The former India skipper also has 634 catches and 195 stumpings (world record) to his name across three formats.
