India women's team batting star Smriti Mandhana on Monday (August 17) paid tribute to “inspirational” MS Dhoni, as she hailed the incredible personality of the legendary cricketer, saying the former India captain has inspired everyone around him to be a better cricketer and especially human being.

Dhoni, India’s most successful captain, retired from international cricket, bringing an end to a 15-year-long career on August 15. Apart from having an unmatchable ability to change the game, the captain cool has great ability to inspire each and every individual around him which made him an all-time great man-manager and one of the most loved sports personalities in the world.
Reacting to the latest heartbreaking news, Mandhana thanked Dhoni for his contribution to Indian Cricket and inspiring many individuals. She also recalled millions’ favorite moment when former captain walked out to bat in the 2011 World Cup Final against Sri Lanka, saying the confidence on the right-hander was something which she got inspired by.

In the 2011 World Cup Final, Dhoni promoted himself in the batting order and went on to play a match-winning knock to guide India to its second World Cup title.
Mandhana said in a video posted by Twitter handle of BCCI Women: “I still remember the way Mahi sir walked out to bat in the 2011 World Cup final, the confidence on his face was something which I got inspired by, I am sure he has inspired everyone around him to be a better cricketer and most importantly a better human being. He has inspired everyone around him to be a better cricketer, leader, and most importantly, a better human being.”

Dhoni is slated to return to the cricket field in the IPL 2020 to be played in the UAE from September 19 to November 10. He will continue to captain CSK in the tournament.
