India gained freedom from British rule on August 15, 1947.
Today on August 15, Saturday, 2020, the whole of India is celebrating the 74th Independence day.
India gained its Independence from the British on August 15, 1947, after more than 200 years of occupation. It is an occasion of joy and pride. And on the other hand, it also reminds us that we are indebted to all those people who lost their lives to gain independence for us from the British.
This year’s Independence Day is a bit subdued due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic which has cost the country almost 50,000 lives so far. Therefore PM Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort amidst limited personnel and the festivities were also somber.
Meanwhile the Indian cricket fraternity took to Twitter in order to wish the entire country on this proud occasion.
