Air India Flight Crash: Indian cricketers express grief, offer condolences

At least 20 of the 190 people on board, including both the pilot and the co-pilot, were killed in the crash.

An Air India Express flight overshot and fell 50 metres off the end of the runway at the Kozhikode airport on Friday (August 7), breaking into two.

As per the media reports, at least 20 of the 190 people on board, including both the pilot and the co-pilot, lost lives in the crash.

The Air India Express aircraft was part of India's "Vande Bharat" mission to bring back expatriates from foreign countries.

The aircraft has been identified as AXB1344, B737 Dubai (DXB) to Calicut (CCJ). According to the inputs, a missed approach was carried out first followed by a second attempt to land the aircraft when it overshot the runway. The aircraft's actual speed was higher than the landing speed.

As soon as the unfortunate news came out, current and former Indian cricketers took to Twitter and offered deepest condolences to the victims’ families.
