Afridi confirmed he, his wife and their two daughters are now clear of the virus.
Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi on Thursday (July 2) confirmed that he, his wife and their two daughters have tested negative for COVID-19 after they were initially tested positive for the virus that has claimed lives of over half a million people across the globe and infected more than ten million.
Afridi made the announcement on Twitter and thanked his well-wishers for their prayers. He also shared a picture of himself holding his youngest daughter.
He wrote, "Alhamdulillah, my wife & daughters, Aqsa & Ansha have re-tested after our previously positive results for #COVIDー19, & are now clear. Thanking u all for your continuous well wishes, & may the Almighty bless you and yours. Now back to family time; I’ve missed holding this one."
Afridi had tested positive for the virus last month and received lots of good wishes on social media from fans as well as the cricketing fraternity. Gautam Gambhir who has frequent arguments with the cricketer on Twitter, also wished him a speedy recovery.

Recently, as many as 10 England-bound Pakistani cricketers were tested positive for COVID-19, of which 6 have now tested negative and are set to board the flight on Friday to join their teammates who flew on an earlier flight on June 28. Pakistan will take on the hosts in a three-match Test and T20I series in August-September.
