Sachin Tendulkar recalls 'special stint' with Yorkshire county in 1992

The batting maestro shared a couple of throwback pictures from his county days on Instagram.

Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar on Friday (May 8) recalled his county days with Yorkshire as he shared a couple of throwback pictures on Instagram.

The Indian batting maestro played for Yorkshire in 1992, becoming the first overseas cricketer to represent the club. He featured in 16 matches for Yorkshire, scoring 1070 runs at an average of 46.52.

While sharing the photos, Tendulkar also acknowledged that his "special stint" with Yorkshire helped him gain exposure.

"Flashback to my county cricket days! As a 19 year old cricketer, playing for @Yorkshireccc was a special stint as it helped me gain exposure & better understanding of English conditions. Fond memories!," he wrote in the caption.

In a career spanning 24 years, Sachin Tendulkar played 200 Tests and 463 ODIs for India, scoring the world record number of runs (15921 in Tests and 18426 in ODIs) and centuries (51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs). He also holds the record for being the first man to score 10,000 runs in ODI cricket, first batsman to score 100 international centuries, first male cricketer to score a double ton in ODIs, most matches played in both formats and other numerous milestones.

Tendulkar left his mark in ICC Cricket World Cup. He boasts the record of most runs, joint-most centuries, most fifties in the quadrennial event. The Master Blaster was Player-of-the-Tournament in the 2003 edition of World Cup. With 482 runs from 9 matches, Sachin also played an instrumental role in India’s 2011 World Cup triumph.
