The Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab has come up with a good deed in these times of need and the gesture was praised by Punjab cricketer Harbhajan Singh. The Coronavirus pandemic has been wreaking havoc across the world. India has been hit pretty hard, despite being in lockdown for 21 days, which has been extended by 14 more days.

The Golden Temple has pledged to bear the cost of the personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilators required in the state of Punjab. With the number of COVID-19 cases rapidly increasing in the country, most states have found it difficult to provide an adequate number of PPE kits and intensive care units (ICU) in hospitals to treat the patients diagnosed with the disease.

These PPEs are needed by nurses and doctors to keep themselves safe from COVID19 patients while treating them. Ventilators are used to keep the patients alive while treatment is done, as the virus affected the lungs and makes breathing difficult for them.

Harbhajan Singh, who hails from Punjab, took to Twitter and lauded the Golden Temple for their brilliant gesture. “Golden Temple.. Shri Harmandir Sahib.. will be taking care of the entire cost of ventilators and PPE requirements for Punjab state to fight with Coronavirus..Great Gesture ???????? #dhangururamdasji,” Harbhajan tweeted.

167 people have been confirmed to have been contracted the pandemic in Punjab 11 of whom have died while 14 others have also been cured of the disease, as chief minister Capt. Amrinder Singh extended the lockdown in the state till April 30.
