Just like all the star cricketers in the world, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is currently enjoying an unforeseen break from the game in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, which has claimed more than 24,000 lives and infected over 532,000 globally as of March 27.

Williamson returned to New Zealand earlier this month after the three-match ODI series in Australia got called off due to COVID-19 outbreak. Since then, he has been in self-isolation and waiting for things to get back on track.

For now, however, the Kiwi captain seems to have found an innovative way to stay connected with the game.

On Friday (March 27), Williamson shared a hilarious video on Instagram in which he can be seen giving his dog a slip catch. Funnily, the dog Sandy ended up gobbling up the ball.

Here’s the video:

Recently, Williamson hailed his country’s doctors and healthcare workers who are on the forefront to battle the COVID-10 epidemic.

As per Williamson, doctors, nurses and caregivers are the people who truly understand what it means to perform under pressure – a term often used in sports.

“Events of the past few days have made it clear we’re living through a health crisis the likes of which we’ve never seen. There will no doubt be times in the coming days when the scale of what we’re facing will seem overwhelming,” he wrote in a column for ‘New Zealand Herald’.

“We’re so grateful you have our backs. People talk about the pressure sportsmen and women are under to perform, but the truth is we get to do something we love every day for a living. We play games,” the Black Caps captain noted.
