As of March 26, the Coronavirus outbreak has claimed more than 21,000 lives and infected over 472,000 people globally. In India, around 650 confirmed cases have been reported while 15 people have lost their lives thus far.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Dhawan uploaded a video and conveyed his heartfelt message.

“Hi everyone remember to stay indoors & take care of your family and yourself. I have done my bit and contributed to Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji's National Relief Fund - https://pmnrf.gov.in/en/online-donation Encouraging all of you to help, so that together we can make a difference Folded hands,” the southpaw captioned the video.

Earlier, Dhawan had urged people to put out food and water bowls outside their homes for animals/birds during this time of crisis.

Just like many other countries, Indian government on March 24 announced a nationwide 21-day lockdown to contain the spread of virus and thus animals/birds are struggling for their daily food.

Under the stressful circumstances of lockdown a lot of animals/birds who were dependent on shops/vendors/visitors for their daily food are now going to go hungry and starve. For this period of lockdown it is my humble request to you to put out food/water bowls outside your homes for animals/birds. From the safety of our homes we can still save some souls. Let’s save some lives and add to our good karma. Let no one go hungry, let no one hurt. #CompassionInTimesOfCorona @pfa.official
