Former Pakistan captain-turned-commentator Ramiz Raja has showered rich praise on young batting sensation Haider Ali after his brilliant Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 and domestic season, saying the 19-year-old has the talent to become the next Babar Azam or Virat Kohli of cricket.

Haider, who played in the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2020 in South Africa, has 645 and 218 runs to his name in 7 First-class and 5 List-A matches respectively so far with 239 PSL 2020 runs at 158 strike rate before the franchise event was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Raja believes that the right-hander has an immense talent similar to Babar and Kohli but suggested the young batter to follow the approaches of these two modern batting giants to become a world-beater.

He also advised Ali to bring consistency in his performance while said he needs to work on his game awareness and play longer innings for a brighter future.

Raja said in a Youtube video: “Haider has immense talent and has made a name for himself in his first season of PSL. However, he needs to bring consistency in his performance and his ideal position is number three in the batting order. He has big quality shots in his armor and doesn’t need to improvise much as his power-hitting base is quite strong.”

He concluded, “Haider needs to follow the approach of Babar Azam and Virat Kohli. These two doesn’t improvise much as they have so much talent and rely mainly on conventional shots. Haider has a similar talent as Babar and Kohli, but just needs to work on his game awareness and play longer innings.”
