AUS v NZ 2020: WATCH - "No Handshake zone" as opponents clap for each other

Australia beat New Zealand by 71 runs in the first ODI at SCG.

Australia and New Zealand players avoided handshakes after the first ODI at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). The decision was taken keeping the Coronavirus threat in view.

The home side won the first ODI by 71 runs. When the players from both teams came out after the match, instead of handshakes, they clapped and appreciated each other.

The opening match was played in front of no crowd. In fact, the whole series will be played behind closed doors. 

Even during the toss, the two captains Aaron Finch and Kane Williamson jokingly shook hands, but they later did the elbow tap. The cricketers were not even celebrating the wicket with high-fives. It was elbow tap and fist bumps only among the teammates. 

Sports around the globe are affected because of the Coronavirus outbreak. Many tournaments have been canceled. The series between Sri Lanka and England have got postponed too.
