More than 100,000 people attended the 'Namaste Trump' rally.
US President Donald Trump on Monday (February 24) mentioned batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and current India skipper Virat Kohli in his speech while addressing the 'Namaste Trump' rally at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad.
More than 100,000 people were present at the event, giving Trump a rousing reception in the world’s largest cricket stadium.
Trump began his speech, saying: “America loves India, America respects India and America will always be faithful and loyal friends to the Indian people.”
Speaking about the legendary Indian cricketers, the American President said: “This is the country where you people cheer on some of the world's greatest cricket players from Sachin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli.”
Earlier, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Trump as he arrived at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on his first official visit to India.
US President and first lady Melania Trump landed in Ahmedabad along with their daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner.
