The ‘Very Very Special‘Laxman celebrates his 45th birthday today. Vangipurapu Venkata Sai Laxman was born on November 1, 1974, in Hyderabad and made his Test debut in 1996 against South Africa at home in Ahmedabad.

Laxman was known for his easy on eyes stroke play with big use of his silky wrists hitting even balls outside off stump towards mid-wicket. He became a known name for his brilliant 167 against Australia in Sydney in 2000 series. However, his biggest achievement came in the 2001 historic series against the same opponents, this time at home.

In the Kolkata Test, as India followed on, Laxman hit 281, the then highest score by an Indian in Tests and with Dravid, who made 180, added 376 runs and made Australians pay for asking India to bat again and put India in a winning position. He continued to be a bane for the Australian team and though he had a decent ODI career, he could never play in a World Cup tournament.

His amazing career came to an end with 8781 runs in 134 Tests and 2338 runs in 86 ODI matches in 2012. He also played in IPL for Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad and currently works as the mentor of the SRH team and as a commentator.

As he celebrates his 45th birthday, VVS Laxman received wishes from the Indian cricket fraternity on Twitter and we have some of the best tweets.
