Watching a left-handed batsman in full pomp is a visual treat for the eyes. Majority of the southpaw ooze elegance and possess a range of strokes. No wonder, cricket fans often rate the likes of Brian Lara, David Gower, Kumar Sangakkara, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh as the most aesthetically pleasing batsmen.

On Sunday (September 1), the Caribbean batting legend Brian Lara gave the glimpse of his heydays as he came out to bat for Bravo XI versus Pollard XI in Port of Spain’s Queen’s Park Oval Stadium.

Widely known as the Prince of Trinidad during his playing days, Lara might have made just 12 runs but he turned everyone nostalgic with his trademark late cut.

Here’s the video:

Lara – one of the finest batsmen against spin bowling – was adept at playing late cut despite having a high backlift. Cricket fans still vividly remember the way he tormented the likes of Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan with this stroke on several occasions.
