Schutt decided to get married after the Australian government passed a bill making same-sex marriages legal in the country in 2018.
Australia’s women cricketer Megan Schutt on Sunday (March 31) tied knot with her long-time partner Jess Holyoake. Schutt, who has been quite vocal about her relationship in the last few years, described it as the best day of her life.
Taking to Twitter, Schutt posted a couple of pictures from her wedding and captioned it as: “Best day of my life. My heart is so full. I am a lucky woman ❤️ Mrs and Mrs Schutt”.
Schutt and her partner decided to get married after the Australian government passed a bill making same-sex marriages legal in the country in 2018. The 26-year-old often voices her opinion on the policies regarding women’s in various sports. She is currently engaging with Cricket Australia to improve their policies.
“I know it’s a long time coming, but to be involved in those conversations, to have input to say, ‘That could possibly affect me in the future’, is really cool and I’m not sure everyone has had that in the past,” she told AAP.
Megan Schutt is widely regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in the world of women’s cricket. Currently, she holds the No. 1 spot in ICC Women’s T20I rankings for bowlers.
Having made her international debut in 2012, Schutt has represented Australia in 3 Tests, 51 ODIs and 47 T20Is thus far. While she has claimed 9 wickets at an average of 19.44 in the longest format, she has taken 75 and 57 scalps in ODI and T20I cricket respectively.
