Ex-India cricketer Gautam Gambhir joined the political party BJP. There were hints about his interest in politics through his tweets. But before India's ODI series against Australia in January, he had made it clear that there is no intention to join politics.
But after he joined the BJP party, Gambhir called it an influence of PM Narendra Modi on him. "I have been influenced by the PM, his vision for the country. This is a fabulous platform for me to do something for the country," he said. Gambhir may contest for BJP in the national election from Delhi.
His decision to join politics got a mix reaction from fans on Twitter. Most fans were disappointed and some even went on to troll him.
