WATCH: Arjun Tendulkar claims a wicket in his second over for India U-19

Arjun trapped Sri Lanka U-19 batsman Kamil Mishara plumb in front to record his maiden scalp in youth cricket.

There were talks of nepotism when cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun Tendulkar was named in the India Under-19 squad for the tour of Sri Lanka last month. Akin to his father, Arjun remained quiet and now his on-field exploits are making the noise.

Arjun, who is a left arm pacer, took just 12 balls to make a mark against Sri Lanka Under-19 in the first Youth Test match which is being held at Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo.

India U-19 skipper Anuj Rawat gave the very first over to Arjun as Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat. The junior Tendulkar didn’t disappoint his captain and stuck in the last ball of his second over. Arjun removed Kamil Mishara by trapping him plumb in front to record his maiden scalp in U-19 cricket.   

India U-19 will play two youth Tests in Sri Lanka. The Indian fans would certainly hope that Arjun will continue to make the nation proud in the upcoming matches.

In the past, Arjun has also represented Mumbai’s under-14 and under-16 teams. However, he grabbed eyeballs when he gave an injury scare to England wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow during the net-session at Lord’s in July last year.

In contrast to his father, Arjun is more fascinated towards fast bowling and he often spotted in the nets rolling his left arm. During the 2017 Women’s World Cup in England, he was seen bowling to the Indian women’s batter in the nets.
