Despite a lot of jokes Ishant never reduced his love for his hair and kept them long.
On his debut on Vikram Sathaye’s show ‘What The Duck’, Indian pacer Ishant Sharma talks about his on-field and off-field life. He revealed secrets about his hair, his first meet with his wife Pratima, the funny expressions he gave to Smith in the Test series and lot more.
Talking specifically about his long hair, Sharma had an interesting memory during his school days which he recalled in the interview. Ishant Sharma during his Under 19 days was humiliated by his Vice-President during his school assembly for having such long hair.
He recalled the incident and said, “Quite from the beginning, I was fond of having long hair. There have been many incidents with this hairstyle. Once when I was in school. I had already played Under-19 by then and my vice-principal asked the students with long hair to step forward but I was quietly standing behind. Even then I used to be the tallest of all."
"So he gripped my hair and dragged me to the assembly. Obviously, it's embarrassing that you're playing for India Under-19 and still, vice-principal drags you. Throwing you out! That too in the assembly. But even after so much of all this. I didn't cut my hair," he added.
It is since then that there have been many incidents where there are jokes made on his long hair. Even when he made his debut for India in 2007, we’ve been observing how his long hair used to come in front of his face when he bowled. And people used to make fun of his long hair and even judge him on that. Later on, in recent times we see him tying a pony tail during the matches.
But despite all those humiliating jokes Ishant never reduced his love for his long hair and kept his hair long. The only difference is he now often ties his hair unlike earlier.
