Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been on fire with the bat in IPL 2026 with more than 350 runs with a century.
However, an Olympic shooter being questioned about a cricketer has sparked a debate online about the level of journalism in the country.
The interaction, meant as a cross-sport reference between two young Indian sporting names, swiftly diverted the spotlight away from the shooter's personal accomplishments, prompting social media criticism of the question's wrong framing.
When asked about Sooryavanshi, a 15-year-old cricket sensation, Bhaker reacted intelligently, emphasizing guidance and environment over his age.
"I would say that if the mentorship is good, the company around him is good, and the people around him are good, then age is just a number. And there is no age for talent. Great things happen at 60; they happen at six. So if the people around him mentor him well and guide him properly, then I am sure he will be the next big star,” 24-year-old Manu Bhaker stated in a video posted by PTI.
However, the wording of the issue elicited strong emotions online, with many claiming that it overshadowed Bhaker's own Olympic accomplishment. Many of the social media users slammed the journos for sidelining Bhaker’s own records and instead asking her about a field she has no relation with.
