Farhan garnered significant attention for his aggression against Bumrah during the Asia Cup 2025.
While the Men in Green lost all their matches to India in the continental event, including the final, Farhan garnered significant attention for his aggression against Bumrah. Upon returning to Pakistan, he featured in a documentary, titled "Hero in the Making".
The documentary highlighted Farhan’s performance in the multilateral tournament, with a specific emphasis on his feat of hitting three sixes against Bumrah.
In a recent interview with ESPNCricinfo, Farhan shared his experience of facing Bumrah, stating that hitting a world-class bowler for sixes gave him massive confidence.
He noted that once a batter "passes" the challenge of facing Bumrah's variety (slower balls, yorkers, and bouncers), other bowlers start to seem easier.
“Speaking about Bumrah, I don’t think there was only Bumrah in that (Indian) team. All of them were some of the best bowlers, like Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. So it’s not that there was only Bumrah. But I started with Bumrah. You get confidence as a player when you hit a good player for a six. If you look at him, he gave me a tough time in the beginning. He was doing slower ones, yorkers and bouncers. He swings the ball, bowls outswing and inswing. It’s natural that it’s very difficult to play him. So you have to find your way. And when you cross that thing, you pass that thing. Then the rest of the bowlers seem easy to you, I think," Farhan said.
Sahibzada Farhan was Pakistan’s leading run-getter in the Asia Cup with 217 runs to his name in seven matches. He carried his prolific form into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 as well.
Farhan finished as the leading run-scorer of the global event, smashing 383 runs in seven matches (including two centuries and two fifties) at an average over 76. He surpassed Virat Kohli’s previous record for the most runs in a single T20 World Cup edition.
However, the right-hander bagged a four-ball duck in the high-voltage match against India at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
