The RPSG group have acquired Manchester team for Men's and Women's Hundred competition.
The RPSG group purchased the Manchester franchise in the Hundred tournament, and Sanjiv Goenka announced the names of both the men's and women's teams.
He announced that the Manchester Super Giants (MSG) had signed Jos Buttler and Heinrich Klaasen for the men's Hundred team. Then he referred to Sophie Ecclestone, one of the world's top spinners, as 'a nice spinner'.
Sanjiv Goenka made a mistake when he revealed Meg Lanning's identity and referred to her as 'Meg Canning', even though the subtitles indicated the correct name.
“For the women’s team, it’s a combination of experience and youth. Sophie Ecclestone from England, 26 years, is a good spinner. Meg ‘Canning’, somebody who’s been part of 7 World Cup campaigns, several victories. Smriti Mandhana from India, our own Smriti Mandhana, again a proven match-winner," Goenka said in the video.
The fans immediately caught Sanjiv Goenka’s mistake and decided to troll him on social media for butchering the name of the Australian women’s cricket legend, Meg Lanning.
