Kohli was named in Delhi’s Vijay Hazare Trophy squad on Friday.
Legendary India batter Virat Kohli is all set to turn up for Delhi in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was included in Delhi’s squad on Friday (December 18) for the domestic one-day tournament, which will be played from December 24 to January 18.
Kohli, whose last appearance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy was in 2010, has begun his preparations for the competition. In a video doing rounds on social media, the 37-year-old can be seen honing his skills in the nets.
Kohli is expected to feature in at least a couple of VHT matches for Delhi. These domestic fixtures will help him prepare for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, slated to begin on January 11 in Vadodara. Having retired from T20Is and Tests, he has become a one-format player for India.
Kohli looked in fine form in his last ODI series for India against South Africa, amassing 302 runs in three innings at an average of 151 and a strike rate of 117.05, including two hundreds and one half-century.
India’s leading wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was named Delhi’s captain for the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy on Friday. In addition to Pant and Kohli, the Delhi squad features prominent names such as Ishant Sharma, Harshit Rana, Navdeep Saini, Ayush Badoni, Yash Dhull, Priyansh Arya, Nitish Rana, Simarjeet Singh, Anuj Rawat and Sarthak Ranjan, among others.
Delhi will open their VHT campaign on December 24 against Andhra Pradesh. Delhi’s second Group D match is scheduled against Gujarat (December 26), followed by fixtures against Saurashtra (December 29), Odisha (December 31), Services (January 3), Railways (January 6) and Haryana (January 8).
