Ireland made 265 in response to Bangladesh's 476 runs in first innings.
The third day of the ongoing second Test between Bangladesh and Ireland, which is being played at Mirpur in Dhaka, saw play being halted for three minutes as an earthquake rattled the city.
A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck Bangladesh and the interior parts of India on the morning of November 21, causing the third day’s play to be halted as players from both teams panicked due to the earth shaking.
Even fans in the stands were in panic mode as tremors were felt, and even the on-air commentators felt the commentary box shake. Both Bangladesh and Ireland players rushed out of the dressing room and waited near the boundary rope around 10.08 IST. Play resumed after a brief pause.
The small crowd searched for open spaces to flee to. Some left the stadium, while others attempted to get closer to the ground. The media center, a five-story facility located at the stadium's northern end, also quickly emptied as people fled to safer areas.
Bangladesh had scored 476, with Litton Das making 126 and Mushfiqur Rahim celebrating his 100th Test with a 106-run knock. Andy McBrine had taken 6/109 for Ireland. In reply, Ireland was bowled out for 265, with Lorcan Tucker scoring 75*, Stephen Doheny scoring 46, and Jordan Neill making 49 runs. Taijul Islam took four wickets, while Khaled Mahmud and Hasan Masud took two wickets each.
